I’ve done a handful of brass coins and they’ve all turned out great. Started another today (depth map) and I went to check on it after a couple hours and just the red laser was following the pattern, no power.
I stopped the lightburn job, restarted my G2 and started it up again and it fired with full power. I let it run and it stopped power again at a similar point in the job (not sure of the exact point).
I thought it might be something in the project, so I restarted everything, recreated the project from scratch in lightburn and just restarted it, we’ll see what happens.
Anyone else have this? I’ve had the laser about a week and a half.
From the way you describe it, it sounds like a problem with the power supply or the laser module itself. Considering that (if I understand correctly) the module is recent, it may have a manufacturing defect.
I remembered some problem with the cable connection (bad contact). To rule out this hypothesis, I would move the work to another location in the work zone to see if the defect disappears or if it remains in the same percentage of the project.
I did move the laser unit to another location, checked the connections, and improved the ventilation (it was already pretty good, so I doubt ventilation was the issue), and I completely recreated the lightburn job from scratch and it did complete the job, so I’m going to run it some more and see if it occurs again. So far everything looks good.
My hope is that there was some problem with the gcode creation on the initial job and I won’t see the issue again.
I may be wrong, but I am convinced that if there is a problem with Gcode, this problem would be displayed in the “preview” window by the lack of a black line or fill.
The black line or fill (if you zoom in enough you will see that it is many lines together) represents the active laser.
The red line represents the movement of the laser module.
