A forum search appears to show several Minilase users that have been frustrated when trying to use LightBurn with the Tykma machines. I am considering a Minilase machine but am underwhelmed by their “Pro SE” software. Has anyone successfully been able to use LightBurn with the Tykma Machines? I assume the secret is in the driver and perhaps this simply does not exist.
Since I do not have the machine yet (am considering), it is difficult for me to be absolutely sure. However, from what I have been able to dig up on these, they appear to use JCZ controllers.
Since this is one of their more “lowly” models (manual Z-height…manual focus, etc.), I am assuming their “Pro SE” software is 32 bit and not the EZCad 64 bit version. However, I do not know that for a fact.
I will contact Tykma and see what the future holds
Not sure why some of the “laser” companies decided to go the “proprietary” route. Like 3D printers and “Cura”, etc., simply build machines that utilize standardized controller coding and allow the third-party software companies and open-source groups to provide the interfaces. History shows that “proprietary” only works if you have superior hardware to everyone else, and even then, it doesn’t always work well…sort of the Beta vs. VHS thing all over again.
Dealing with the Chinese is more of a hindered than most people know. You’d think they’d know allowing other vendor software to work on their platforms seems like a no brainier to increase sales, but they do not.
They are just tight lipped about the products and how they work. The EZCad3 apparently has software encryption just to talk with it, which they won’t share so Lightburn can even talk to the board… Most of this is difficult to reverse engineer and they won’t help.
