Hi,
i was wondering about coating sprays and powders for engraving with a 20W diode. I get advertized laser marking spray, spray paint for engraving, powders etc because google noticed i searched for laser engraving stuff.
What of it is real and usefull and what is a scam? For 3D print they sell “special 3D print spray glue” for the print bed, wich is simple hairspray when you look at the content but sold for 3x the price. So what is usefull to have or at least know about in engraving? I have no specific project for that i need anything but i like to experiment and learn. So i would love to hear what stuff you guys use and for what and wich things are a stupid rip-offs that can be done other ways. Looking forward to try new things out and learn tips, tricks techniques.
Thanks for any and all input.
Borax and water for plywood to engrave black.
White paint titanium dioxide for tile.
Really need to know what you want to do.

@Dskall’s third line says it best. Get some material and try to process it. If you do not get the results you expected, create a Topic and have a discussion. You can also learn a lot by reading the Topics.
The scams are in the sales of the machines, not in the products we use to create works of art or functional items. One item in the “It costs how much???” category id the sprays designed for laser marking. I bought a 2oz can of Cermark for $22 to see if it would work as claimed. It did and then some. Cheaper versions may give less than optimum results, so you will just have to buy and try.
