Unable to load image engraving files into Boss HP3655. Unknown File. "The File Data Error!"

When I import an image file, .png .jpg or any graphic file into Lightburn and then try to send it to the HP3655, it seems to proceed normally. The Boss beeps like it has received the file, but it is labeled “Unknown File.” When I try to box or run that file, I get “The File Data Error!”

I am running Lightburn 1.7.06 on a Mac PowerBook Pro with a M1 max chip, O.S. 14.6.1

I have engraved image files in the past on a previous mac PowerBook and when I load one of those previous images it will load and run.
When I open the original image file in photoshop and save it out as a .jpg file it will not load.
When I create a painted image in photoshop and save it a a .jpg file it will load and engrave.
When I create a line cut file, it will load and engrave.

I have tried large files and small files. Color images and black and white images. Same result.
I have tried web images, screen grabs, original photos. Same result.
I have deleted all the files on the machine. Same result.
I have rebooted everything multiple times. Same result.
I have swapped cables. Same result.
I received another controller from Boss Laser and tried all of the above. Same result.

When I load in the original image file again, it loads and engraves.

Help?

If you did not select the image and press send you will end up with an empty file when you have “cut selected” activated. I could image that is the case. Not sure if the current version of Lightburn would catch it but I have transmitted empty files to the controller in the past.
Not totally sure what you are trying to do though, maybe some screenshots would help.

I tried turning on cut selected and tried various versions of what I selected all to no avail.
Here are some screen grabs of the process. In all cases I get Unknown file and “The Data File Error!”

Thanks again to anyone who can help me on this. Karma points for sure!
