Unclear on proper usage of laser pointer offset - expectations on use wrong?

I’ve got 1.7.0.1 on windows 10 with a Falcon2. I had pointer offset set up (with an attached crosshair laser on the laser head).

First issue:
Went to recalibrate camera alignment with 1.7.0.1 – unless I turn off the pointer offset - LB crashes the head into the border of the unit. This is something I don’t remember seeing with 1.6, but not sure since I hadn’t calibrated camera since doing the pointer.

Second issue:
Once I enable the offset in device settings - it doesn’t actually do anything useful with either the frame or the move-to-position buttons unless I also configure an offset for the camera. Is that expected that I’d need to set an identical offset on the camera?

To make sure I’m starting from a clean slate, I:

  1. Disabled the offset on both device and camera control.
  2. Fully restarted LB
  3. Re-ran camera alignment
  4. Re-added pointer offset and restarted LB

What am I missing on the understanding of how this is supposed to work? I fully expect at this point that if I set a camera offset as well in camera control, the laser-pointer should match up when I frame or move to position, but it makes the display weird with everything shifted.
