Understand manual amperage settings verses power settings in lightburn for k40 laser

I have searched internet considerably and not found an answer to this. If I set manual amp with pot to 12 ma, and using lightburn set a cut to 100 percent what is actual ma
that laser will cut with. Is the manual setting a max current and lightburn power setting a
percent of that…100 percent would be 12 ma. A clarification would be greatly appreciated…nubie asking

Second to previous question, I have ordered a variable 10 turn 5k pot for purpose of manual current limiting. Not knowing exactly what IN terminal impedance is, would a 5k
be appropriate for said function.

Yes. Think of the pot as setting the upper limit of power. So then whatever you specify within LightBurn is limited by the constraints of the upper limit. So 100% should get you 12 mA.

thank you…that makes perfect sense. I could not find that info on the Web,
so again thanks.
