Unengraved Patches in Letters Starting with Straight Lines

I’ve been trying to make a sign for outside my house so that courier drivers don’t get my house and a similarly named house mixed up.
I’ve been trying to do it using laser laminate. Matt white on black.
For some reason when engraving letters that start with a straight line its not engraving the straight line properly and is just giving me a wavy edge.
Am I doing something wrong. Is it a compatibility issue with my
set up? Does anyone have any ideas before I waste more laminate.
The other issue I have (and I don’t know if its connected) is that I ran the material test. Judging by that I should have been able to engrave with 10% power and 1600 mm/min. Yet in order to get a goos engrave I needed to set the laser to 80% power and 1200 mm/min.
Thanks

With that huge laser module, you likely have vibration due to that large mass and a frame not designed for it.

Contrary to popular belief, you cannot slap an 80w module on a 20w frame and expect good results. With those larger stepper motors, you might have positioning oscillations as well.

White always takes more power because it is reflective of all visible light colors. The reason those tiny squares in the Material Test burned is because the laser head never got even close to the 1800mm/m in that short distance. In fact, this is very common with the Material Test. You should use 25mm-30mm squares if you are burning a larger area. Tiny areas, tiny squares. Large areas, large squares. Any Tool has to be used properly to get useful results.

The fact that you mostly got through the white is doing pretty good.
