Uneven depth on thin lines with galvo – how to fix?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been running into an issue with my galvo setup. On wider areas the engraving looks consistent, but when the galvo only has a small distance to cover (thin lines, narrow strokes of letters), the laser seems to burn much deeper.

I tried adjusting the killer parameter, but it doesn’t seem to help – or maybe my setting is either too high or too low.

Has anyone experienced this behavior? Is there a specific setting in LightBurn (like acceleration, overshoot, or corner delay) that compensates for the shorter galvo travel, so the laser doesn’t dwell too long on those narrow strokes?

Any tips on what values to tweak (or whether this is more of a galvo tuning vs. LightBurn setting issue) would be very helpful.

Thanks!

What material are you attempting to lase? Looks like fabric…?

There are a number of videos on tuning one of these. Laser everything has a yt site with a video on delays/timings you can watch… Doubt this is the issue, but not sure what you’re up to.

I’ve already checked all the usual suspects — speed, delays, overshoot, power levels, PWM settings. For testing I even pushed the values way too high and way too low, but there was no improvement at all. So I don’t think the issue is related to the LightBurn parameters themselves. It must be something deeper, either hardware, firmware, or the driver.
