Running a 200w laser
I’m engraving at 45 degrees angle which is helping the darkness but it seems to go uneven when it has to burn in more than 2 places on each letter.

Hi, potentially its that you are very near the low threshold for exciting the laser tube itself.
That being so there will be parts etched and others not.
Please try nudging up yje power by a few % a time or two until you get concistency.
