It’s certainly possible, but in the past I’ve done projects like this with 20+ hours on the laser without this issue with other software.
The only other thing I can think of is that I used to use M42 to set the power and intensity in the past, but Lightburn doesn’t support that, so I enabled the feature in Marlin to use the I for inline intensity during moves to use Lightburn’s inline mode. Maybe that feature has issues. I haven’t updated the firmware in a few months. I’ll check to see if maybe it has been addressed.
