I’ve been using my laptop with my laser everyday with no problems but today I went to connect the laptop to the laser and the USB port isn’t in the list next to Device in the laser control window. I reinstalled the driver but that didn’t help. How do get my computer and laser communicating again?
Check if the USB port is broken with an USB stick or a cable/dongle mouse. Then you may check it in the device manager and - if available - try another USB socket.
You are using macOS or Windows?
According to his other post it’s a Mac.

The usb port works fine with thumb drives
I figured out my issue. My controller had gone bad. I replaced the controller and now I’m good.
