Using LB on diode laser. Have upgraded to co2

Just wanna confirm. I purchased a software license of LB for my diode laser and it works fine.

ItRecently I’ve upgraded to a 60w co2 laser. Can I still use the same version of software? Or do I need to upgrade or purchase a new lic? The co2 laser is compatible with LB haven’t had a chance to hook it up yet. Waiting on a water chiller.

Note that in all cases the software and the version is the same for any laser that you use. However, the licensing may be different. Whether or not this is true for you will depend on what controller is driving the laser.

For your diode laser I assume you’re using the G-code license but you should confirm. Go to Help->License Management. It will list the device types you’re licensed for. Currently LightBurn offers licenses for g-code only, DSP, and galvo lasers. Note that DSP and galvo licenses include g-code functionality.

Nearly all retail 60W lasers will ship with a DSP controller like Ruida or Trocen. If this is the case for you then assuming you have a gcode only license then you’ll need to add DSP to your current key. This is an upgrade. Note that you don’t need to buy a separate new key, just upgrade your existing key.

There’s a smaller chance that the laser ships with a GRBL based controller in which case you’d be fine continuing with your existing license.

I’ll double check. I purchased a Monport 60w laser I think it does have the Ruida Controller. And I certain I only have the g-code lic of LB.

Ok So Im trying to upgrade my license and the first thing it asks me is for my current license so I look under License management and the line is blank. ugh… any other way to locate this information?

It would have been sent to you in email when first ordering.

It’s also visible in License Portal if you login there.
