I have been reading through the forum and have started to use tape for cutting to stop burn marks and it works perfectly.
The issue i know have, is when i use the fill option to engrave over the tape, it always leaves an uneven fill, and sometimes misses bits out all together. Ive tried material tests and change settings etc, is there anything im missing?
It very much depends on the type of tape itself, the specific glue that is used.
When cutting a shape, you can easily give a little extra power to your standard values, but when engraving, it becomes a mess with all the tape/glue residues in the image. So, I only use it sometimes for cutting and for that I use a thin ordinary masking tape.
Make sure the tape is stuck down to the material completely. If it pulls up from the material it will have a different effect than if it is down tight on the surface.
Make sure you have cross ventilation to draw smoke away from laser head.
