I’m trying to figure out how to use this software for my Vevor Laser. It is 20W, a model G3, and a 400mm x 400mm laser. I have attempted to follow some of the Lightburn tutorials, but when I attempt to do an engraving, it doesn’t burn, the blue laser light just goes side to side without engraving my materials. I’ve tried to adjust the speed and power max but it still doesn’t work. BTW this is the first time I’ve used a laser machine.
Can you share your cut/ layer settings with us?
Also what type of materials are you engraving?
I’m using wood
1000 mm/s is one meter per second. That is really fast. Try reducing your speed by a factor of 10 to start.
Start with 100 mm/s and see how that works.
IT WORKS! Thank you so much. I’ve been trying to figure out how to use my laser since last year in June. I tried using a different software on a windows computer, but I couldn’t figure it out. I really appreciate your help and support. THANK YOU!!!
glad to help
This is still pretty fast (6000mm/m) for a 20w diode laser. Diode lasers usually have the Units set for mm/m in the Device Settings window.
I have never seen anything to prove one way or the other, but the common opinion is to not run the diode laser at 100% power to get a longer life. I rarely run mine at even 90% power. Heat is the death axe for semiconductor products.
For engraving Baltic Birch plywood, I typically use 2600mm/m and 25%-30% power.
