V2.0 power loss and other problems

Hi
using Sculpfun S9

I have just had to uninstall v2.0 and reinstall v1.7 for the following reasons

  1. Even with the power setting at 100% speed 800, it is now taking 27 passes to cut through just 3mm walnut ply
  2. The sculfun does not have a Home setting so I do this manually, using my honeycomb grid. However, in v1.7 Lightburn remembered the Home setting as being 0/0, v2, when using the Frame option, then resets itself so that 0/0 is now 20/20.

I cannot afford to keep wasting valuable wooden pieces, that I have precut and routered to shape, for a) Lightburn v2 to take so long cutting out a very simple design (it’s far quicker to use LBv2 to make a simple engraving to use as a cutting guide for me to use with the scrollsaw!) and b) Lightburn v2 to put the engraving in the wrong place.

These are the only 2 problems that I have found, so far, with v2 but, until I can be sure that v2 has been updated to remove these and other bugs, I’ll stick with v1.7

Thanks

Sounds like you need to reload the preferences file from prior to the update, I have been seeing a problem where windows does not copy the file like it should.

Hi Chris,
Sorry to sound like a numpty but how do I do that pse? I’ve checked the device settings in LBv2 and they were showing SMAX at 1000 and my defaults as speed 300 power 100.
Incidentally, the Sculpfun S9 is working fine with Laser GRBL
Thanks
Bob

In the control tab type $30=1000 this will ensure your S-Value and $30 parameter match, to check what your $30 setting is type $30=, if they do not match say one at 1000 and the other 255 you will get only 25.5% power from your laser.

Hi Chris

Thanks for getting back to me. I’ve done the first bit but am getting an error message with the second (about testing the $30 registration.
$30=1000

ok

$30=

error:2

Numeric value format is not valid or missing an expected value.

Cheers
Bob

Try $30 without the = I didn’t backspace enough when deleting the 1000.

Hi Chris

Yep, that worked  $30 is now showing a value of 1000, the same as in device settings. Unfortunately, nothing has changed with regard to the power output in LB. I’ve loaded the same file into LaserGRBL and, with the same power/speed settings I’ve cut through on just 4 passes so the problem appears to be within LB somewhere - I’ve just no idea where.
Thanks again for your help though
Bob
P.S.
I’ve sort of solved the x0/y0 problem. To go back to 0/0 I click on Go To Origin, which is set as Absolute, which at least takes the laser back to where it started each time. Not ideal but something I can work with.
