Just my brutal opinion: this is pretty much run-of-mill design whereas the flag in your original post is alive and exciting making you to take a second look just to check it’s not a real flag. It also makes you want to figure out how it was made. I just love it, it’s great work.
If two were side-by-side in a shop, I would happily buy the first one, but I wouldn’t buy the second even if it was only one available.
I’ve sold quite a few of both. And these also. These were done on my CNC machine but i’ve also done them on the laser

That “Hello Sunshine” one brought back bad memories. Made it in 2 layers for what I thought was a girlfriend, that ended up costing me a lot of money. Maybe I should have made a “Hello Rainshine” one?

I too like the first flag, I have never seen a pattern of how that is achieved, wood love to make a New Zealand flag like that… Cheers Merlin…

Yeah, that was how it was, until I figured that was the wrong song. Then “Wrecking Ball” was more appropriate. Anyhow, we digress…
The ‘Hello Sunshine’ one is really nice cause it’s colourful and maybe it could be nicknamed ‘Hope springs eternal’…cause that’s also seasonal.
