Version 2.0 compatibility with Version 1.7.08

I’m currently using Lightburn 1.7.08 on my desktop, Windows 11 OS and my laptop, Windows 8 OS connected to my lasor. If I update my desktop, Windows 11 to Lightburn 2.0 and design a project, can I then run the project on my laptop, Windows 8 with Lightburn 1.7.08? If I can not do that, will Lightburn 1.7.08 be supported now that Lightburn 2.0 is the update? I feel those of us not upgrading our computers to Windows 10 or 11 are now left holding the bag with Lightburn 1.7.08.

I can only comment on the latest Linux version of LightBurn, which is also “discontinued”.
I use the latest version 2.xxx on my Mac to design and construct projects in LB with and then send .lbrn2 to my laser computer with Linux LB version 1.7.08, it works without problems. When the day comes when something is introduced that is no longer supported by the old computers, I will have to upgrade.

Thank you for your response. That gives me hope to give it a try. My gut told me it had a chance of working that way but one never knows.

Yes, you can open the files and run them with the caveat that if you use any LightBurn 2.0 specific functions (Like the new Star and Dual Star shapes) they will not show up properly in 1.7.08 unless you convert them to a path prior to opening them in the older version. You will of course get a warning on the 1.7.08 machine that the file was created with a newer version of LightBurn each time though.

Thank you for the information. that seems like an easy enough work around. thanks again.
