Vertical Streaks on Image

I have placed an image on a white tile and I am happy with the result except for one thing. The picture has a verticle on the whole thing. I am on an Omtech 60 machine. Here is the picture and the settings.

I did not have the streaks when I engraved this photo on wood. What’s my problem? Thanks

What is your spot size? You may be seeing repeating artifacts from overlapping passes.

Increase your line interval slightly

Thanks for jumping in James. Sorry, but I don’t know the dot size. If the issue is the interval, would not the lines be horizontal and not verticle? I’ll change the interval tomorrow and see what happens. I’ll probably to to 256 interval.

Oh, hehehe. Embarrassing mistake. Yeah, I would expect horizontal lines for my diagnosis.

Does the source photo have striations? Can you bump the sliders under the Adjust Image menu?

Can you run another test with the tile turned 90 degrees? It may be due to the tile rather than the image.

Or possibly how the coating was applied. I have a lot of problems applying an even coating.

Did you wash the tile before coating?

By the way, that is a pretty good tile image, if the ripples are ignored.

I think it is a coating issue too. I ran it again and did not have the streaks but I used the same settings and got a result not as good as the one with the streaks. I’ll keep trying. Thank you all for your input.

This looks like “curtains” and has many different causes. Sometimes it is vibration from a pump, lose or worn belts,or something modulating your laser supply. A search for laser curtains may be helpful.
here is what I am speaking of .

In my case it was the stepper drive interacting with the laser supply.
a few capacitors fixed it for me .

I had not heard of “curtains”. Thankfully, I do not have those problems. I re-ran my project on a 4x4 tile and it came out very good. Not sure what caused the streaks but glad they did not re-appear. Thanks for weighing in.
