i have been trying to get my mini gerbil working with my k40 and lightburn for over 4 weeks now with little success, i have literally tried everything and anything, it just stutters away like crazy when trying to engrave at any speed or resolution, yesterday i accidentally discovered that if google chrome is running the laser works perfect at any speed and is super smooth, as soon as you close google chrome it stutters like crazy again until you relaunch chrome again, you dont even have to be connected to the internet as long as google chrome is running everything is smooth, its a very strange thing and would love to get to the bottom of it, any ideas ?
This is a new one for me. I have certainly heard that GCode systems stutter when starting a job, but Chrome running fixing it has never been brought up before. That’s completely bizarre.
i wish i could get to the bottom of it, i think i have awesome tech stumped as well, we have tried 2 boards, 3 computers, 5 usb cables, loads of other things and the only way i can get it to work is by having google chrome running, i even sent them a video and they have never came across this before.
google chrome resets the an internal windows timer to a higher resolution than is usually set by windows. I use to hang around some windows programmers that complained that chrome would would mess up timings of other software because it adjusted these timers system wide. I also heard it was the reason chrome used more battery in laptops. take this with a grain of salt.
I have never heard of this before, and I’ve been a Windows coder for 30 years, but it appears you’re correct:

I’ll be looking at this to see if it’s something I can leverage too, so thanks for chiming in here - much appreciated.
well i finally got it working perfect, the only solution was to use an apple mac and all the problems disappeared totally
