Waiting for connection when connecting laser

hi,

can someone please assist me i have a fox alien Reizer 20 W laser engraver and i am trying to let it work with Light burn but when trying to connect the laser it jsut keeps on saying waiting for connection despite me changing the USB ports and cables and loading different devices manually because it is not showing the device automatically .
when runnig it on windows GRBL software it works but that software is not very user friendly for me to use i prefer my MAC and the light burn software as it has more functions and is easier to use as i am a beginner

Go to the Console window where the computer says:
‘Waiting For Connection’
Click on the middle bottom button.
see if there’s an option for ‘usbmodem’

sometimes macs default to a bluetooth device instead of the correct device for it to communicate.

If you follow this to the end you may find that this works for you.

What I think happens is that you need to 1) power up laser 2) insert usb plug into Mac and 3) open Lightburn. If you have Lightburn open and then power up, the laser will not show in Lightburn, although you can find it in /dev. Fix this by quitting Lightburn and then open it again. To check the USB ports in /dev, open terminal MacBook$ cd /dev Macbook$ ls cu* you should see cu.BLTH cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port cu.usbmodem1234561 the last one indicates you Mac is seeing the laser.

Some Mac computers need to have the CH340 driver installed. Have a look at this. https://www.instructables.com/Arduino-Nano-USB-Not-Recognizing-Fix/
