Wanting to use a Dual Head laser, but only one head as large as possible

First off… not my laser.
I’m asking the question for a user I am helping on a Facebook Group.
He has a dual head laser, but would like to use only one head… for more than 1/2 the working area. I have confirmed that he can maneuver one head along side the other and secure it. But I’m sure there are settings in Lightburn that must be modified in order to create a larger single workspace.

I’ve spent time in the search box… but most posts are solving a different problem.

So I brought this question to you… experts.

Jim

This is all the info I have on the unit at the moment:

If he can manually drive the head into the other area, that doesn’t really indicate what is the issue.

I’ve never dove into Lightburn with dual heads, but I’d think it would be the controller not allowing the operation during a run…

I’d advise read and save the current working configuration of the Ruida before modifying it in any way.

Create another device with the proper information for Lightburn.

Examine the Ruida settings related to multiple heads or their operation and shut them off… If you really mess this up, you can restore the original and be back in operation anyway.

Maybe someone like @Rick can answer this more definitely.

Good luck

I knew you would jump in with me on this.
I too, thought it might be a Ruida setting and then match that work area in Lightburn.
Just looking for confirmation before I start recommending that he mess with machine settings.

Thanx for the precautionary “Read and Save first” advice.

Jim

Given the information in this Facebook post: Pascal(Haotian Laser) CO2 laser group | Facebook

As I was assuming, it is possible with both a change to the Ruida settings and the Lightburn settings.
Just thought I would post it back here for others.
