With this device configuration file, are you able to use bidirectional scanning, overscanning, and offset scanning without the laser slowing down and burning uneven images?
For smaller images, or just plain fill layers, yes. An image has so many power shifts on a single line we actually saturate the Wecreat’s serial input buffer, so it slows down and causes uneven burn.
That’s an issue that we are aware of and discussed with them, and they are trying to fix it in the firmware. This isn’t something we can do on our end at the moment.
The full fix will eventually be to implement the file upload feature they designed for Makeit, but we don’t have the necessary architecture to allow that at present. We’re working towards it, though.
might be worth it’s own WeCreat Bi-directional Scanning thread
I rarely do actual images, so it should be good on basic object fills now? That’s great news!
I mean, again it’s going to depend on the level of detail, because it’s dependent on the number of power changes power second during a scanning line.
And the speed will matter too, the faster it goes, the less time there is to send the next instructions.
I would wait another day or so, until we’re releasing the next patch release and try again with the new version. I can’t guarantee it’s 100% fixed, but it’s not the first time I hear about this bug in 1.7…
Gotcha. Thanks for the update.
Drives me nuts not being able to 100% use Lightburn with these lasers. I’ll be so happy when the kinks finally get worked out. Appreciate all the work the Lightburn team is putting in!
I hear you! Hopefully those issues get worked out sooner rather than later.
It’s a little disorienting trying to write code compatible for a device and then realizing that their firmware isn’t yet full featured either
One other issue we’ve noticed but don’t have any feedback on from their side is the device locking up after an hour in standby but connected to lightburn
I’ve had it randomly disconnect after sitting for a few minutes, but I guess I don’t leave it sitting idle long enough to see that one.
By the way I meant that the 1.7.04 release would fix the selected graphics issue from the original post.
