I am using an older Dell laptop running Windows 10 to control a Wecreat vision 40W, I can control it with my newer laptop but would prefer to use this older one in the shop. But every time I try and start a job using the dell it disconnects and sends a Port failed to open - already in use? error. It then automatically reconnects.
The following is a copy of the console window.

ok
[WeCreat vision,ver::2.0.24]
ok
I have followed the pop ups troubleshooting steps, uninstalled 1.7.04 and gone back to 1.7.01, uninstalled and reinstalled the usb drivers, tried another usb port, disabled the windows usb suspend in power settings. I havent worried about the cable as it works with the other laptop.
If the cable works with your newer laptop, the issue might be with the USB port on the older Dell. Have you checked if the drivers on the Dell are fully up-to-date, including chipset drivers?
That’s not being facetious, it’s an observation. The laptop ports are different and, unfortunately, interact differently with the same cable.
Random disconnections are almost always due to USB jank and typically cured with a better cable. Buying a cable with built-in ferrite cores seems to help get better internal wiring / build quality / whatever, at least when it’s bought from a reputable supplier.
