Weird problem with X axis

Hello

Yesterday was doing some job as i’ve been doing and noticed some weird sound, checked the machine and the job started to be done incorrectly while firing

I’ve been doing some testing today and it seems some problem with X axis (maybe the motor), did some videos and photos to share here so you can check out

So, i’ll try to explain the problem i saw in my testings, when the X axis motor moves it may do the following things:

  1. Back and forth rapid movements usually resulting in not moving to the position it should at that axis (Y axis is working normal AFAIK), resulting obviously in errors if you are doing any job at the moment
  2. Stops without completing the movement, console throws “ALARM:1” and the laser status in lightburn keeps “busy” until i restart the program

Job error photo (it was cutting the coin and the problem started here): photo-5945211289129302800-y hosted at ImgBB — ImgBB

Video 1 (X axis issued to move 100mm, halts and throws ALARM:1): Error 1
Video 2 (machine issued to move to position X:Y, y axis works normal, X axis starts going back and forth): Error 2

My machine: atomstack laser + eleksmaker mana SE board, using grbl 1.1

Im a bit lost here, i thought it was a belt problem but if the X axis goes back, thats not a belt problem i guess, could be the board dying?

Could be a bad cable for X-axis. Try swapping cables and see if the problem swaps axes.

Indeed, tried the cable with both Y axes and the problem also swaps with the cable so thats it, i guess the end points of the cable are loose or something, will try to buy new cables for X axis and just incase the others start acting up

will come back with the results of the new cables

thank you!
