Weld/booleen not working

cannot get the letters and heart to weld. weld and booleen is grayed out.

The outline of the hikers and circle intersecting the letters is not closed. It’s difficult to figure out where the break is.

The open area is at the top of the walking stick. It has a decent squiggly line there.
