What am I missing while drawing a polygon

I have made polygons many times now, but I can’t get the cut boolean functions to work. They are grayed out. I know in the past I have had problems with lines not meeting, or going too far. I drew a line when I saw the circle with cross hairs from beginning to endpoint. I have zoomed in and I can’t see a break in the lines. I need to cut the blue polygon from the black. Anyway, I am frustrated. I hope I am missing something easy. I also used the bottom horizontal alignment tool. I am stuck.

I went to Edit>Select Open Shapes

LightBurn highlighted the polygon, telling us it’s not a closed shape.

While polygon was selected, I went to Edit>Auto-Join Selected Shapes>Close Path

Now your polygon can work with boolean functions, the shape’s path must be closed.

Got it. Thank you very much: I thought I was losing my mind.

I’d just like to say that I liked the website listed in your profile. :+1:
