Hello. I’d like to engrave steel to look like the pictures attached below, however, I am having a hard time understanding which type of lasers are capable of doing so. I am assuming a fiber laser is needed. What wattage would be ideal? Can this be done using a low watt machine? Thanks?
Yes, Fiber laser is the correct tool for that job. Yes, you can certainly do work like that with a 20w fiber, but it will take much longer than it would with something like a 60 watt or higher. Power=Speed for things like that. I’d look for at least a 60 watt, but if you’re planning to do more production work, 80-100 watt would be better.
