What license version of Lightburn for Longer Ray5 10w Diode - Core or Pro?

I have a Longer Ray5 10w Diode laser. Will the core license work for me? If so, does it auto detect my laser type and then after only work for that type? this is the only laser I have.

Core license works for GRBL controllers which I’m pretty sure yours is. You can then run any laser with a GRBlL based controller. Should also auto-detect but setting up manually is easy.

Thanks a bunch for the response. I was a bit unsure because with my laser i can save a file from Lightburn as gcode, then load the file (on a mini usb) into a slot on the laser controller and run it from the controller screen, so I wondered if mine was actually a gcode laser.

You should be able to control the Longer directly with Lightburn.

Yes.

More or less.
After installation, the machine is supposed to be detected automatically during the configuration phase (especially if it’s a reputable brand), but sometimes, for various reasons, manual configuration is necessary (which isn’t very difficult).

Then the Core version works with the types of driver boards described in the link above. (At least that’s what I understood from “only work for that type?”)

For a Longer Ray5 (GRBL diode), LightBurn Core is all you need — Pro doesn’t add anything extra for that machine, just support for different controller types. You can always upgrade later if your hardware changes.

If you’re asking because you’re having trouble connecting it, let us know what you’re seeing — the license won’t affect device detection.
