What mount for endoscopic camera do you use?

I have recently purchased an endoscopic camera for my Sculpfun S30. The entire purpose is to attempt to utilize the head mounted camera feature in Lightburn. Yes, I do know its beta. I have the camera, but I can’t figure out a good way to mount it to my laser head without it rotating once I have it adjusted for right way up. Even with velcro, it moves once I release it.

I realize I likely need an actual mount to attach it to the laserhead, but Google searches are not being very kind in finding one. Please let me know which mounts you all use!

I am aware that there are probably other posts asking this question. However, due to work, and other constraints, I don’t have the time to search through them all.

I did some searching for you…

Took less than a minute to find it, and I do not do camera.

Hi.

Unfortunately that thread is mostly about (re-)calibrating, rather than the actual mounting of the camera.

If there has been such a thread that concentrates on the different reliable mounting methods and -solutions, I sure have missed it.

The head mounted camera is in my to-do list among literally dozens of other just as unimportant things, but if I didn’t have the machining facilities to whittle out almost anything I may desire, I’d probably search for bicycle cable and/or camping rope clamps and repurpose those.
The lightness and sturdiness are the main concerns, the mount has to be as light as possible light in order not to increase mass and inertia too much, but in the same time sturdy enough not to wobble when the head/gantry accelerates and decelerates.

I’d be willing to bet that the 3D printer folks have designed and printed the mounts for their machines, as are the machining folks like me turned and milled mounts for their machines.

Lets hope that someone who has done one for Sculpfun S30 or similar notices this thread and reply with a tried and proven solution  .

The make/model of the camera may matter, the outside diameter of the camera definitely matters.

Apparently you skipped over this part. The camera has to see the entire laser workspace to be useful in Lightburn. The Galvo head is high up from the work area. I am surprised you did not consider this because the camera would be right down on the part if mounted on a S30 laser module.

Your statement…

…confuses me. Why would you want a mounting for the S30 when you have an xTool machine? And if you have a Sculpfun S30 machine, which version? Any mount proposed would depend on this detail.

I suspect you will you will have get ingenious and create your own mount if you still want to do this. Sometimes, a little effort on your part is required.
