What version mks-DLC32 V2.1 Firmware to download for both different pen plotters I have?

Hi,

One is a CoreXY pen plotter and the other a ‘normal’ machine. Both will function with stepper pen lift on the Z axis.

I don’t know where the software is different so I don’t know what to do.

Maybe there is somebody who could advise me with in this.

I have two pen plotters where I want to use MKS-DLC32 V2.1 + touch screen TS35-R V2.0

I see on the Wiki Page that I have three choices:

For TS35, Laser, normal machine

For TS35, Laser, CoreXY machine

For TS35, CNC, normal machine

I understood I need the CNC choice for a pen plotter, because it could handle the Z for the pen lift. But for the CoreXY pen plotter I need firmware too, but there is no CNC choice available.

What to do?

  • Choose Both Laser Options for both different machines; for Normal and CoreXY and change something in the ConfigFile so it’s possible to use it with a pen lift?
  • Or use for both different machines the same same CNC choice and change just fore the Core XY something, so the firmware understand it’s using not a normal machine, but CoreXY?

And the next question is what should be changed in the firmware or ConfigFile?

But maybe there is no problem if I was wrong in thinking I needed CNC firmware for pen plotters and I should use Laser for both pen plotters.

But I thought that lasers don’t need to lift like pen plotters on the Z axis.

Thanks in reply for your advice

Philip

Thanks Melvin, but just find out that those links are not function anymore, so I have to look for another place. I found another place, with only one kind of firmware and nothing to choose. from. Thanks for your quick reply and all the best.

That’s a misunderstanding, all firmwares can handle the z-lift. The difference is in the settings, the CNC version will home Z as well, and use 0,0 back-right instead of front-left.

In your case, I’d use the laser firmware for normal and CoreXY respectively. The rest is configuration. The z movement can be handled using normal gcode commands.
The firmware needs to be configured then to use the correct movment directions and limits, speeds etc.
