When i type a word out and set the size to 3 mm the word measures 5.44 mm

When i type a word out and set the size to 3.mm the comes out 5+ mm . Is there a way to make the word come out to 3mm . Setting in lightburn ?

Text Height Bug

If you had included a capital letter, it would have been the full height. It’s really disorienting to have the text constantly changing height as you type based on the content. If you just typed a decimal point, should that be 1” high? In the height field you’re setting the height of the entire font, not just what you type. The next release uses the equation entry control for font values, and doesn’t have the decimal appearing at the end problem any more.

Text Size Units?

The long answer: The slightly shorter answer: Font height is in mm (or whatever your chosen units are) but that height is the height of the EM square in which font characters are designed - they don’t have to use the whole thing. If you want the character height to be exact, you have to type your text, then use the sizing controls to set the actual physical height. Question about the Text tool

Lightburn text is not drawn or shown in “points” (font size). It is in mm and you can use a calculator to do the conversion. A 72-point “A” is 1" in height, or 25.4mm. You should be able to calculate other font sizes from this.

If the difference is between the LightBurn workspace and the result on the material, make sure Rotary Mode is not (inadvertently) turned on.
