I am unable to open an .eps file
You can only Open
LightBurn’s native *.lbrn
and *.lbrn2
files.
You can Import
the graphic layouts from a variety of files generated by other programs, although Embedded Postscript isn’t on the list:
Technically, you can open other file formats by selecting File>Open - then click the dropdown menu. That’s how I do it
Welllll, OK.
But even that dropdown distinguishes LightBurn files from the vector and bitmap formats, so I’d call it a convenience or discoverability feature for importing geometry from those files.
Using the Import
button on the toolbar avoids a bunch of mousing around …
LB put File>Open in the menu for a reason. CorelDraw, AI, Silhouette Studio, Affinity Designer, and Inkscape all include File>Open. I like using it because I can verify if I have already saved to LBRN or LBRN2. I use LB only as a DXF import from Draftsight, then export to SVG, so not typical to other LB users.
Import will import graphics into the current project. Open replaces the current project with whatever is being opened, doing the equivalent of File > New first.
