White Marble Tile test work

I was inspired by the art @BCanning did on ceramic tile so I found a cheap piece of 3x6 inch white marble tile and tested how much detail I could capture on it.

Here is the result

It’s not perfect, but it was just a first try just guessing at the settings

I used the Jarvis Image profile with power at 55% (of 65W) and speed at 220 mm/sec

After it was finished scanning I sprayed it with black stencil ink and then immediately wiped the tile with mineral spirits.

This is what the original image looked like (not that great to start with)

I think with a little work this could be a great way to make some nice pieces.

I’d like to try black marble with gold paint fill. That looks great

After playing around with marble tiles a little more I think I am getting the settings figured out. this is a 6x6 inch polished marble tile (about fifty cents at my flooring store). Engraved at 155 mm/sec with 45% power (of 65 watts). Then sprayed with black template paint and used mineral sprints to remove excess.

All text and images were pulled from US Patent page and scanned using threshold processing.

Thanks, it’s not even in the same class as the quality images you are producing, but I am going to keep working on it.

Great detail! I can read the writing.
