Frankly, I’m upset that the problems I reported with my S1 were not resolved nor are they acknowledged as ‘known issues’ with the current 2.2 release. But if I’m the only one, then I could understand Lightburn not treating this as a priority.
I have an xTool S1 as well. I just updated to LB ver. 2.2 and I’m also having issues. I’m sure it’s something very simple, just not sure what. When I try to engrave the laser doesn’t fire and I get a pop up that says ALARM. In the Console the script says xTool: user started script line 1 dropped - not g-code this machine can run.
What I’ve found is that if you press “Start” a second time, the laser will fire. It seems every odd time it fails (i.e. “Start” - fail, “Start” - works, “Start” - fail, “Start” - works. That’s as far as I’ve tested. )
The ‘not g-code this machine can run’ is a separate issue that is fixed by a change to the LBDEV file, as mentioned in an earlier thread. (Could someone post that link again, please?)
We just added a second S1 to the fleet so there’s some more eyes on this oddball.
The hard part is that while it is a fantastic machine, it breaks every single paradigm xTool has set with their other machines and basically needs to be treated like an entirely different platform.
I sent Lightburn Support an e-mail this morning and they replied. They told me to remove the S1 profile and then add it back in, which I did and it worked perfectly. I had to import the .lbdev file that I used to originally set up my S1 in Lightburn. Everything seems to be working just fine now. Reach out if you need any assistance, always glad to help!
Please walk me through what you did. I tried the obvious approach suggested by the instructions: Plugged in the laser, launched Lightburn, went to “Devices” and clicked on that. Then clicked on “Find my Laser” - and it launches the “discovery wizard” rather than the list that is showed in the “Xtool” page. (xTool - LightBurn User Guide)
The ‘LBDEV’ file I have on my computer is “XTOOL_S1_V2.lbdev,” that file is dated (probably download date) of Sept 11, 26. Is that the one you used?
This really should not be so damn hard! If the tech support people know how to do this, they should update that ‘XTool’ page. I’m really frustrated at this point.
In Lightburn (LB) go to devices. If your S1 is listed highlight it and select Remove. You should have no devices listed. I used the .lbdev file that I had on my computer from last year when I bought the S1. In the devices window select Import then find that .lbdev file and select open. Once you do that the S1 should show up in your Devices list and you should be good to go. Once I was all set I noticed that my engravings weren’t starting where they should. In LB if you go to Laser Tools (top of screen) then Device Settings turn Enable Pointer Offset on. X-axis should be 0.00mm, y-axis is 26mm on my machine and the engraving starts right where I want it to.
Yes, when you go to import and find the .lbdev file on your computer select Open. Once that file is imported your S1 should show up in the Devices window
