Why i am not seeing preview correctly?

First of all, I know i am doing something wrong, what,… that’s the question. :sunglasses:
I don’t know either if I am not trying to solve two separate issues in the same topic.

First things first.
I pretend to engrave canvas for a gift (Black paint on white canvas)
After some adjustments I have this picture.

Those are not the final settings…
But when hit the preview button this is what it shows:

After some googling it appears this could be a laser power setting problem,… digging some more and the $30 parameters start to show, S-value max either.
This is where it seems to me i have a second issue.
I can’t read the $30 parameter on the GRBL board. NOTE: The board connected to this seat is a different board that is installed in the machine. But I know have to make the required adjustments to the board installed. (Ignorant but not so much )
But to clarify my doubt, I believe this is not relevant.
So,… It is possible a GRBL board not have $30 parameter? Or must have but could be read only by it’s own software and copy that data to “S-value max” on LB?
I am not allowed to set the minimum power too, so,… I am sure I have a lot to learn yet. :sunglasses:
Can you point me directions?
I must have googled it wrong and now I’m stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Yes. If it´s an older version this is possible. Check the version with the command $I in console.

This an expected behavior of the preview tool.
If you make the preview window larger and zoom in you’ll see each pixel. It’s a troubleshooting tool so it doesn’t remove information or engraving from the produced image - it’s just all jammed together.

It appears muddled and dark because your preview is small and your design is 3755 x 3755.

All LightBurn seats should have GRBL capabilities. You can confirm this in LightBurn by Selecting Help, then by selecting License Management (don’t click the link - i’ll try to fix this shortly) - then confirm that you have GCode as an enabled device in the pop up License Page in LightBurn.

Early GRBL-M3 boards around version 0.8 or 0.9ish may not have a $30 because they are on-off.

It’s more likely to incorrectly select GRBL-M3 than to have a GRBL 0.9 edition board.

In the Console window in LightBurn, ask the controller for its identification by typing:
$i
and press Enter. Please select and copy it from the Console window and share this information in a reply here. I’m very curious.

Hmmm,… ok. Makes some sense. :+1:

I must not have been clear. ( My english is not so fluent as i desire…)
What I meant is, in this precise seat i am typing right now i have a GRBL board connected but the original one that it cames with my laser machine. (this is mainly to be able to help other users. I don´t cut/engrave anything here)
Currently I have a MKS DCL32 board installed at the machine and connected to the seat were I have LB installed also and where I run my jobs.

At the installing this original board at this seat LB suggested the “GRBL-M3” but I select “GRBL” board.
Now I executed the command $i as you suggested and console return this:
Version
It seems the original board is a 0.9 indeed. So this board might not have $30 parameter, right?

Thank you for your reply!
As Jonh mentioned it looks like, this seat, is connected to a older version. :+1:

Wonderful!

Please ask for the settings report from the console window by typing the following:
$$
then press enter.

Please copy and paste this into a reply here. I’m curious as to what the rest of the settings are.

As you wish!!! :sunglasses:

Remember, this board is not installed on machine. Only connected by usb cable to this seat.
