Will LB work with Atom Z8350 2in1 tablet (32bit) Win10, on C3D board in a K40?

Will LightBurn work with an Atom Z8350 1.44GHz, 2in1 tablet running Win10 (32bit?), on Cohesion 3D board in a K40? I couldn’t find HW requirements in the LB website.

I tried v1.3 32bit and v1.5 32bit but neither version has C3D as a “device”. When I tried to install 1.6 or newer, I got a “This program can only be installed on versions of Windows designed for the following processor architectures: x64, Itanium, ARM64” message.

I’m trying to see if this 4yo barely used laser unit works before buying LB for it…

Some previous discussions may be helpful:

So the machine will probably connect & function, but (as you found out) LightBurn no longer supports 32 bit Windows:

Which is why the free trial period is so valuable. :slightly_smiling_face:

UPDATE: So with v1.5 I was able to get LB loaded onto the 2in1 (tablet with a keyboard) RCA. I wish to use the RCA because I already have it, it is being unused so would be good as a display for the K40. I have another RCA performing well as an interface for a VCDS OBD2 dongle (ross-tech.com).

Having done a little more research, and finding the “old” Cohesion website at webarchive.org, I was able to determine that “Smoothie” would work with Win10 and the C3D board. So in the Device settings I installed Smoothie and was “IN”.

A note about the Cohesion websites both new and old is that my AV SW (AVG) shows many malware programs upon initial visit that I then have it “close” and am then able to visit the site. Just about every new page needs to have malware cleared before viewing. I should probably do a complete virus scan to be safe…

The initial controlling I figured I would perform is to “home” the laser. I picked top-left upon initial setup. When I hit Home in LB, the laser started going back and forth an inch or two and was making a “zzzzoik!zzzzoik!zzzzoik!” so I hit the panic button. Upon closer inspection, I determined the air assist hose, which the PO had added, was taut and not allowing the carriage to move. Snipped a wire-tie and the laser found home.

Another issue I found was that every time the USB cable moved, the carriage went into an involuntary movement ritual. The 10’ USB cable supplied by the PO was defective so a 6’ USB from a long-gone HP Printer was put into service and solved THAT issue.

I imported a picture into LB and was able to convert to Gcode. I made a large and small copy for testing. LB “framed” the pictures fine. I ran the Gcode and it wanted to run in the lower left quadrant vs the upper left I had picked for home. The screen also shows the origin as upper left. I’m still learning LB so I will figure it out the next time I have time to tinker with it.

There are still mechanical setup issues I have to deal with as I’m not getting output and I think that is because the laser is too far from the material being engraved. It does put a little pin prick of a burn hole in cardboard. It appears to be missing the grate on the table. But I now have movement of the carriage which I didn’t have before…

PS: I know the RCA is precariously perched but I’ll make a stand for it eventually.

As far as I would guess, this error message is likely correct – there’s something there in the architecture it doesn’t like…

Maybe @johnjohn can answer that will more definitively target the issue.

@ednisley provided a link above. I figured it was something like that. For some reason I was thinking the RCA was running 64bit Win10 because the Atom is supposedly 64bit. But I found this in the computer info which enlightened me.
