Working with variable text and max width

I am working with some placards that have three lines of text. I want to constrain the width to 3.325" and have that setup in the shape properties. Is there a way to have is squeeze all three lines on the placard the same amount? Right now I get this:

In a perfect world all three lines would be compressed the same amount.

I am using Lightburn Pro 2.1 RC1 on MacOS.

Yes I know it will look terrible… :rofl:

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum!

That’s an interesting question, and I think to get the result you’re after, you’d need to;

  • Disable both ‘Max Width’ and ‘Squeeze’.
  • Limit records in your merge file to a maximum length/number of characters.
  • Use a monospaced font so text length will be predictable (like Courier New, but there will no doubt be better fonts for legibility).
  • Setup the text layout to fit the maximum length (adjust text object width and character spacing as needed - see highlighted).

Examples of how ‘Max Width’ and ‘Squeeze’ affect the final result;
