Would this be safe to laser?

I bought some stamp material a little while back. My intentions were to route it out on with my router. Now that I have a laser, I would like to try that, but want to make sure it’s not going to mess anything up.

Here is a link to the material from Dick Blick. It’s labeled as linoleum.

I doubt it will provide a satisfactory relief cut. Much of the material in stuff like that is inorganic filler and will just turn to mineral ash and sit there soaking up energy. There’s a slight risk of fire if you try and overpower it. I was not able to get any satisfying blocks/stamps out of material like this. You can certainly try but I’m not optimistic. Just keep an eye on it. Also – the off gasses are pretty toxic.

I will probably stick to routing it. haha. I don’t want to have a mess to clean up.

As far as I know, Linoleum is a natural product. Made from linseed oil, wood dust, cork dust and resin. And while using a Laser, always evacuate the gasses. I used Marmoleum without a problem. In this glass holder I combined Marmoleum and MDF.
