X-axis Offsetting mid-job problem - laser engraving

Hi Makers,

I’ve encounterder a very bothering problem while laser engraving : an offset that occurs mid-job on the X-axis. The engraving continues but the origin seems having moved on the x-axis. It’s quite random, it’s not always but more and more often recently.

We suspect that the Belts are quite worn and while engraving at high speed, with friction rising temperature, it might “jump” some belt steps and loose the origin. Might be a tension problem too.

See by yourself :

That sounds like a likely suspect for sure. Definitely check your belts and any set screws in your pulleys.

Have you tried to simply engrave at a slower speed to see what happens?
