X-tool haywire: laser stops; bangs into casing

Hi

I have a X-tool S1, work from a new HP laptop which is connected with a cable to the X-tool and use lightburn.

Somewhere between all of these there is a serious miscommunication.
The X-tool just stops; sometimes after 24% of the work has been done and sometimes after 64%.
Then the X-tool suddenly makes a funny sound, the laser head bumps into the left side of the machine and loses its positioning.

Please see the atttached video. First the machine stops after a few seconds. Then I reframe and restart and then it works for a minute or two, the X-tool makes a funny noise, laser head sudddenly bumps into the left side of the casing and lose its positioning.

What must I do? I didn’t touch anything. I didn’t reset anything. It just went haywire. This is a first time for me and I have been using Lightburn for more than a year.

Must I rather use a WiFi connection? Must I re-install Lightburn? Must I stop using Lightburn? Is there somebody else in South Africa that use Lightburn with the X-tool that I can liaise with?

I am computer literate in several software packages. But really, Lightburn is wearing me down.

What must I do.

I bought all of this to have fun and at the moment it is everything but fun.

Please help.

Thank you.

No, that is even worse than USB.

A lot can change in a year. What you have sounds like a communications issue.

  1. Is your USB cable shielded and have a ferrite on it?
  2. Is it longer than 10 feet?
  3. Is it a USB-C to USB-C cable?
  4. Has there been an Apple software upgrade recently?
  5. Have you changed Apple computers?

Dear Mike. thank you for responding to my mail. In the end it appeared to be a very simple solution. I lowered the speed from 1000 to 800 and the machine ran through the full job without a problem. At least now I know, and hopefully maybe help others also, not to set the speed too high when lasering. Thank you very much. Very considerate of you and I appreciate it. Kind regards. Deon

A lot of people have to learn running really fast is not always best. Glad you solved it.
