X7 pro 10w is skipping lines on engravings

This started a few weeks ago, I’ve cleaned the machine, and I’ve updated Lightburn. This is on every file, every layer. If I move the image, the skipped lines are in the same spot. I’m thinking it’s nothing physical, it has to be something software related since it’s the same every file. I’ve looked over my files and can’t find any issues, I’ve made new files, same issue. Any tips?
I put a red circle around the skipped lines in the pic.

These likely aren’t skipped lines. Your laser is likely losing steps and so leaving the appearance of a skipped line.

Can I assume you’re using flood fill? Flood fill is a fairly demanding operation and requires that the mechanics of your machine have very little slop. If it’s not well tuned it can result in these types of artifacts. Look for slop for loose belts, loose pinion gears or other opportunities for backlash. And in general, avoid flood fill.

I’ll run a test without flood fill and see. Thanks. I had figured it wouldn’t be the physical machine since it’s in the exact same place every time, no matter what I do.

I tried a test without flood fill on and I didn’t have the “skipped lines” so now I need to fine where the problem lies so I an use flood fill again. I do some very large engravings, and without flood fill they will take twice as long. Thanks.

I’d suggest starting with looking for backlash on the Y axis. I’d guess your pinion gear is not well secured to the stepper shaft.
