Hello there. I am interested in engraving photos on clear acrylic using my diode laser machine. I found a YouTube video of someone with an Xtool machine and provided the settings using the Xtool Creative Space, settings of 70% power and 50 speed. I use lightburn since I have a different machine, and would like to know what my settings in lightburn should be for the same kind of project. Is there any place where I can see the correlation between Xtool and lightburn settings? Thanks
This is difficult because the laser is in the visible light range. Where someone else’s settings work for them, they rarely translate to your machine. You will have to experiment. Did they paint one side of the acrylic with a dark coating? You will have to do this and results can vary wildly depending on the coating.
Bottom line, you cannot engrave, etch, or cut clear acrylic with a diode laser.
At least with a visible light laser beam.
@MikeyH is right, can you provide a link to the information?
You may find that XCS and xTool are working in mm/second instead of mm/minute. The units of speed are important and I can’t emphasize this enough.
