Xtool D1 Job Origins

Hi Community another Xtool d1 question

Machine: Xtool D1 10 watt,
Ortur LM2 (not the pro)
Lightburn: 1.2.0
Windows: 10

I am currently set up in current position job origin in the center of the xtool d1 bed. I have a
1 inch circle to engrave for test. When I press frame, all is well. But if i move the circle any where
else around the original center location, the laser still frames to the original center location. This
is with the current position setting with the job origin to the center radio button. When I change the
job origin to the user choice, the same results after moving the circle around over the bed. This
is done by putting the laser in the center of the bed before turning on the laser and lightburn.
Since there is no home switches on this xtool d1, is there a proper way to set the home
position to the center location in the current postion job origin to save it permanetely so everytime
I turn on the machine to cut or engrave something, it will always start from the center and work
out around the table boundries? If I put the laser head in the upper left corner, it WILL got to a
sideframe and hit. Also, going throught calibrate camera alignment while in the current position
job origin, when I click update overlay, the job origin switched to absolute coords and the head will
run into the frame even thought the circle looks to be where I placed it before I selected update
overlay. maybe there is a setting in the device manager or somewhere that has changed. I have
not changed anything that I know of. In the move window, is this where I need to be to set a permanant
home position to always work from the center out? The camera doesnt seem to work for placing
an image in a cicle for cutting. I also have the Ortur LM 2 with the home in the left bottom. All
works great in lightburn as is. I can put a piece of wood on the bed in absolute coords, update
overlay, then center an object to the overlay and it comes out pretty good. sorry for all the questions
that some one else probably posted, but there is alot of posts out there to dig through. These problems
are all with the xtoold1 as descibed above.

As always thanks for all of the laser gurus here,
I am one that comes out a couple times a week to hobby practice,
Tim

Apparentely the D1 is capable of sensorless homing. Another user confirmed that sensorless homing works in LightBurn. Press the home button and check that it homes top-left. Your machine origin should also be top-left. I suspect this may depend on the version of the firmware on the machine.

I’m not quite sure if I understand the question. I think you’re asking if there’s a way for the machine to know the physical center of the machine without homing. If so, no, current position is 100% dependent on the current relative understanding of position.

Proper camera alignment requires that you use absolute coordinates for your start from selection.

Even without homing you accomplish this by powering on the machine with the laser head at top-left. This is considered a manual homing.

I suggest you work exclusively in absolute coordinates using either homing or manual homing.

Thanks a lot berainlb PY on your response, Yes the xtoold1 homed itself back to the upper left corner. Also, I will play with the
camera some more when I get time working from absolute coords. Like I said I also have the Ortur LM 2 that works in the
absolute coords with the lower right limit switch and it centers an
object pretty good in the overlay. Thanks again for the help. I
will post back later on what I find out with the xtool camera.
Thanks,
Tim
