xTool D1 Pro with Extension Home Position

Hello, I hope someone nice can help me. Fairly new to this but I’m a tech savy person. I have read several posts about this and tried the solutions offered but nothing is working for me. Have to press the home button twice to get the laser head all the way back to the actual home position. Firmware and software are both up to date.

I read that in the console I can change the XY values. I can see that $131 is 406.000 which is not correct. If I try to change this using $131=930 I get an OK but when I recheck the setting using $$ it still reads 406.000.

Could someone who understands this far better help me please? Thank you!

Did you go to XCS and configure the laser with the extended bed? If not, you will need to do so for laser to be aware of the change.

Note that xTool lasers prevent direct GRBL configuration changes.

Thank you for such a speedy reply, yes I did originally do that. Do I need to keep the XCS app open?

No. And in fact might contend with LightBurn.

So to confirm, you changed the configuration of the laser to the extended frame? And this didn’t persist?

Did you also change work area in Edit->Device Settings?

OK I can see it makes no difference if the app is open or not (using wifi for XCS and USB for LB). The only way I can see to tell XCS I’m using the extension is by selecting it in the drop down of options for Laser Flat, Rotary or Extension. There is nothing in the device settings that I can see to change this otherwise.

Yes I changed the workspace area to the correct dimensions.

Yes I changed the frame size in XCS to Laser extended. It doesn’t stay like that if I close XCS and reopen, it defaults back to Laser Flat, the regular laser frame size.

Have you run a job in XCS with the extended frame? Perhaps that will make a difference.

Also, there’s a toggle switch on the controller that allows for configuration changes. Maybe try toggling that before making the extended frame configuration change. You’ll want to toggle it back for regular work, however.

Other than that, not sure what else might be going on. Not sure what others are doing. Perhaps they’re just dealing with the homing behavior. Hopefully someone with your specific machine can provide some insight.

Thank you for trying to help. Yes I’ve run numerous jobs with the extended frame in XCS no problem at all. I thought I’d try out LightBurn as so many people rate it highly. This is the only issue I have with LB… so far.

I was hoping updating the firmware and using the latest .lbdev file would resolve it. Thanks for letting us know your outcome. :smiling_face_with_tear:
