Xtool F1 Galvo Framing

Is there anyway to get lightburn to use the galvo framing on the Xtool F1? The Xtool software is ok but I am so much more used to Lightburn from running my CO2 lasers and I would much prefer to use Lighburn for all my uses.

Maybe @johnjohn can answer this better. I don’t have one of these machines but most use a visible diode to frame, at least my fiber does. IR is invisible, so you’d have to have something that generated a visible light.

One of these has a hardware button to switch between laser, not sure which, but that usually eliminates switching via software.

People are using these, so there must be some way… Hang in there…

I haven’t seen anything on the F1 yet.

We have a ‘hardware list’ so I can check to see if anyone around here has one.

Does the xTool F1 have a BSL or EZCad2 controller or is it proprietary?

Are you using the same Win 10 Lenovo Laptop for both the xTool F1 and the CO2 lasers?

Yes, Galvo framing on the xTool F1 doesn’t work — or at least not for me. I don’t even have the option for this Galvo Framing. The framing only works in the basic way, like with a regular diode or CO2 laser.

As far as I know, the F1 and the F1 Ultra are both grbl machines and are not recognized as a galvo device by Lightburn.

Most options that are not supported by your device usually don’t exist and/or grayed out. Since the F1 variants are not considered galvo devices, these option are not available.

This framing works in the xTool software, but not in LightBurn. So the machine is capable of this function, I just haven’t figured out how to achieve it in LightBurn, nor have I found any solution from other sources.

I wasn’t saying that, the software doesn’t know it, it thinks it’s a grbl machine, not a galvo machine.

It may be capable, but Lightburn is unaware of this either because there is no standard grbl to do what you’re asking or if just unreasonable to take the time and resources to code it into the existing package… Only Lightburn people can answer that.

Most galvo machines have galvo controllers, the F1 series has a regular grbl controller.

Thank you for the reply and the information  It would definitely be great if someone from LightBurn could look into this and say whether it’s possible, and if so, how. I really enjoy using this software, and this feature is something I miss on this small machine.

If you go into the ‘move’ tab in Lightburn and set the move speed to max then you will get a similar effect to the usual ‘galvo laser show’ for framing. Not quite as nice but useful.
