Xtool f1 ultra engraving photos

Hey guys,

We switched to the Xtool F1 ultra but are struggling to find a sweet spot for engraving photos. On one photo it keeps messing up the hair like it isn’t starting the engraving with the full power.

Any insights or a good ratio between contrast/dpi and power to try?

Hi Chris

Can you post your settings.

Can you post the results you have achieved.

What material are you using.

Have you adjusted the image. The Hair may be so light the power is too low to register a mark on the material, or at least the mark you expect to see.

Might want to give us some idea of what you’re getting and what you’re using. Photos are very helpful.

Using the IR laser or the visible light laser?

Type of material and a screenshot of the cut/layer so we can see the settings.

used a high res, stock picture

Fiber Laser: Dot duration 250 , power 80, DPI: 750

Fiber Laser: Dot duration 250 , power 100, DPI: 600

on this i used grayscale instead of color.

this was the pic:

Ive tried editing the picture, doesnt really change anything, tried different dotting/power/dpi
never comes out to where u could say " it looks ok"

Are you using a dither or grayscale? Grayscale is much more difficult.

im using jarvis

Suggest you find what settings allow you to make a black mark then attempt to do an image. This gives you better contrast if the laser marks in black.

If you haven’t, then you should watch the Laser Everything video on photo engraving. Their process works for any laser with any material… they did it with a fiber.

Good luck
