Xtool P2 statement of the company Lightburn

Hello everyone. I would like to ask the programmers of the great Lightburn software to give a clear statement if there will ever be software support for CO2 from Xtool P2/P2s. I would like to switch from the Xtool S1 to the adult P2, but since I’m already used to Lightburn and I don’t want to fully switch to XCS. If I knew that the support would ever be the same as on the S1, I would buy the P2, if no one expects that there would be support, I will not buy it and will stay with the S1 /40W/ for the reason that I could not find another desktop CO2 engraver that would suit . The only option would be Atomstack Hurricane, but I’m afraid to put money into the Atomstack brand.

Check out the Omtech K40+, that’s the only true low-budget CO2 laser available. Make sure it has the plus, the standard K40s are tinker projects themselves.
But the K40+ has the same small workspace as all K40s (200x300mm).

You should better ask xTool if they want to increase their efforts to support third-party applications. It’s not the task of the LB team to support their devices, it’s xTool’s task to provide information, protocols, and support for getting their devices integrated. They are hindering integration, not the other way around.

This topic has been discussed many times here lately, here’s the bottom line:

If you buy an xTool, you should stay in the xTool universe. If you want to use great tools like LightBurn, don’t buy xTool!

Thanks for at least some kind of answer. 1 thing I would like to say is that the K40+ is out of the question considering the desktop. In addition, regarding the company Omtech, I probably rejected Monport because I don’t hear any good reviews of these manufacturers. I still had Omtech Polar in my selection, but due to the not very good rating of Omtech, I also eliminated it. 2 thing I would like to say is that I know there is a problem on Xtool’s side that they don’t want to communicate, but they still don’t want to communicate with me about this problem either. I assume that programmers from Lightburn have a slightly different kind of communication with Xtool than some small consumer. And maybe some communication can take place behind the curtain and the programmers can hint just like it was with S1. 3 Thing I know this has been discussed here many times, but I couldn’t find a correct answer anywhere. Thomas

If I make it very short and ask for a specific answer.

  1. Buy Xtool P2 (CO2), support is being worked on but it’s complicated and lengthy from Xtool’s side but it’s on the right track.

  2. Buy Atomstack Hurricane (CO2) because there is full support and this machine, although it is quite new, is good.

  3. Stay with Xtool S1 40W (diode)

We cannot make claims of compatibility for hardware only firmware. Because we do not have any visibility into the updates/firmware that xTool puts out for their machines, we cannot guarantee compatibility. If xTool was to use a standardized, supported firmware, that would be different. xTool firmware is proprietary and opaque.

We have multiple P2 lasers on hand internally, and we proactively sought and negotiated a mutually signed agreement in an effort to gain the information or assistance we need to support xTool hardware.

Will it happen? Likely.
When? We are unable to provide a timeline.

I (unfortunately  ) don’t get paid for it, but my opinion about OMT is different. My machine has been running like a charm since day 1 in 2021, and here in the forum I don’t think there are many dissatisfied OMT users, and believe me, there are many of them.
My first CO2 laser was a K40, which for its price of $334 in May 19, after some modifications, was a fantastic, precise and stable machine. It was just too small with its 230x320 mm working area.
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a K40+ if I could make do with the small working area, in return it is 100% LB compatible.
