I’m using a Xtool P2S with lightburn, despite missing features, it’s still more detail adjustments then XCS.
It works via wifi, all fine.
However, it sometimes suddenly shows strange behaviour during a job.
For example, I’m running a test job with a matrix of rectangles, then in the middle of the job, it starts burning very deep, it almost looks like the head touches the material.
Stop en restart the job cures this for a moment and then it start doing it again.
Only stop, turn off the p2S and restart the job helps. But then still it can occur again.
Addition; after some tests and research, it turns out that it doens’t have to do anyting with the laerhead touching the material.
It’s the X steppenmotor to stammer. When pressing the button (pauze), wait 10 seconds and continue; the job continues ok for like 30 seconds, then the X steppenomotor starts stammer again.
Doing the same job with XCS, it works fine.
So something to finetune in Lightburn.
I know the xTool machines are very finicky when working with Lightburn due to their proprietary design. Did you follow this exact procedure when installing it? https://support.xtool.com/article/287
Yes, I followed this carefully..
I also have a Xtool F1 Ultra. There I experience a similar problem.
When processing a file with highly repitative X movements (test squares etc), at a certain point, it loses stability and position. The F1 Ultra even didn’t respond to the green button topauze anymore.
So I’m arraid some work to do to make this work together.
I really like the Xtoo
l machines, but I also like the fine features of Lightburn.
PS. I use both machines via Wifi, not USB.
Kind regards,
Any chance these two statements are connected? Many, MANY times it is stated in the Forum to not use WiFi, but use USB or Ethernet instead. If you put a WiFi Analyzer app on your phone and watch the signal strength, you will see why WiFi is not a good idea.
Hi Tim,
I try to connect via USB but unfortunately, Lightburn does not recognise the p2S. No matter what i do (import/new). If I connect, windows gives a beep that a device is connecting. But LB stays messaging - disconnected.
The xTool instructions state; Use the USB cable to connect xTool P2 to your computer, open LightBurn, and select xTool_P2/P2S in Devices . If Ready is displayed on the right panel, the machine is connected.
That being said, you said you are trying to connect via USB. What does the Device Manager show when you connect / disconnect in USB Devices and Com Ports? Does it show up?
It doesn’t show anything.
When i use search devices, I het an empty windows.
Of I import the P2 config from xtool and edit it to chose USB, I can chosen it from the device list but it gives ’ disconnected’
I did some further tests.
USB still isn’t working but if I connect a network cable directly from the P2S to my laptop, then it’s recognising the laser.
So now see if if the problem is solved, keep you posted.
