xTool P2S on Mac - Communication with controller failed

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help. I’m using:

  • xTool P2S
  • MacBook Air M1
  • LightBurn 2.1.03
  • USB connection

My problem is:

  • xTool Studio connects to my P2S and shows Ready.
  • My Mac detects the P2S.
  • I imported the official xTool P2/P2S .lbdev device profile.
  • The device is configured for Serial/USB.
  • When I open Machine Settings in LightBurn, I get “Communication with controller failed.”

I have already:

  • Restarted my Mac.
  • Restarted the laser.
  • Re-imported the official xTool device profile.
  • Verified the machine works in xTool Studio.

Is this a known issue with the current P2S firmware, or is there another fix?

Also, my LightBurn trial expires today. If this is a compatibility issue, would it be possible to extend my trial while I work through it?

If you go to Help Menu > License Management, there should be a button to extend trial. They will allow you to extend a couple times.

Make sure that the xTool software is disconnected before attempting to connect to Lightburn.
