xTool P2S Start Code and Z Axis Control

I know Lightburn cannot (yet) work with the camera or autofocus on xTool P2S, but I am still struggling with the Z-Axis settings. I am using the riser base, and when I follow the instructions at Use LightBurn to Operate xTool P2 Series - xTool Support Center for setting up the device, it doesn’t drop the laser nozzle down to the height that I am setting. I think I am doing something wrong or missing steps in the sequence needed to start a new job.

For instance, on the video xTool provides setting it up, the user on the video manually jogs the laser module a couple times X and Y before modifying the Device Settings and calling out a G0Z(x) value in the Start GCode. That step isn’t mentioned anywhere in their written instructions.

I have gotten the laser nozzle to drop to the correct manually measured height once or twice, but usually it just stays raised all the way.

For anyone using the P2S with Lightburn. What am I missing?

Do we have to call out the Z Height by adjusting the Start GCode everytime we change materials, or can we not use a code to establish the bed height, and then Lightburn will adjust the nozzle height by adding (or subtracting) the known material thickness from the bed height?
